In Pergo there is the Relais:  Corte dei Papi *** which is a first class restaurant with excellent menu and service.

Turn right at the bottom of the Valecchie road to Pergo, pass the centre of the village and it is on your left.

In Montanare there is the Locanda de Molino.

Turn left at the bottom of the Valecchie road to Montanare and the restaurant is on the left. This is also an excellent restaurant with an interesting menu. It is more informal than the Corte dei Papi with friendly service.

In the hills above Valecchie there is the Poggio del Sole. Be prepared for an extraordinary culinary blow out! Open Mon, Wed, Fri. Book the day before. This is a fixed price menu (32 euros)  with 4 courses, coffee and water. Service is personal. It gives you an experience of authentic Italian cooking at its very best. Each course is a work of art. This has only just opened but is already gaining a reputation as one of the best restaurants in the area.

Pergo Pizzeria: this is very friendly and informal. It is both  takeaway or eat in. The prices are very cheap - and the pizzas are excellent

 Further Afield:

In Cortona there are a huge variety of eating places. Prices vary, but expect to pay more than restaurants in Camucia.

Trattoria antica has a good reputation.

Our favourite restaurant is the hotel in Portole. Go round the back of Cortona and keep on driving, following the windy road up the valley. There are spectacular views on the right as you go up.  This view looks down on Valecchie (the cottage is marked with an arrow) with Lago Trasimeno in the background.

Their best dish is beef fillet marinaded with olive oil, black pepper and rosemary. It is delectable!! The hotel owner is a lovely man who speaks quite good English. It is a family run business. Not expensive.

Castiglione del Lago has an excellent fish restaurant with a good value 5 course tourist menu.
