Florence/Firenze : This is best done on the train. Leave car or bike at Camucia or Terontola. It takes an hour. A wealth of amazing sights. Incredible architecture.

Perugia : 40 minutes drive. Elegant capital of Umbria. Breathtaking setting. Rich in art treasures. Summer jazz festival.Relaxed atmosphere.

Assisi : 50 minutes drive.Avoid the crowds if possible but go even if you cant! The church of St Francis leaves an impact.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sienna:   50 minutes drive. The central piazza, location for the famous 'palio' is a wonderful coffee stop between the incredible sights and excellent shopping.

 Montepulciano: 50 minutes drive beautiful wine making region; visit the cellars and wander the pretty, though steep streets.

Pienza:  this has a beautiful setting with the most perfectly laid out squares and streets 

Gubbio: An hours drive but worth it for the spectacular setting with amazing architecture, ruined amphitheatre and cable car ride up the mountain.
